Strike a Light

The Strike a Light is a two-player reaction game made by Aquaventronics, the Canadian company behind the four-player Chaos version. You stand either side of the table, hit your side's lit dome buttons as fast as they flash, and try to outscore your opponent before the 30 seconds run out. With flashing lights, LED scoring and its own sound system, it's one of the most eye-catching attractions in our range and one of our more popular games. Some customers know it as Strike the Light, or simply a reaction game.

How it plays

In standard mode you can play on your own or head to head: put out as many lights as you can in 30 seconds, and the faster you press, the quicker the buttons come back on. Hit a lit button for a point, hit one that isn't lit and you lose a point. In battle mode (Strike It Back on the play surface) every light you knock out sends another one across to your opponent's side, so first to clear their half wins. It's harder than it looks.

If you want a running tournament, record everyone's best score and put it on a magnetic Top Gear-style leader board so guests know who they've got to beat.

This is the bit that makes it useful on exhibition stands: it grabs attention from across the hall. At Sheffield Arena it ran on a job fair stand to pull potential employees over for a chat, and the University of Liverpool sports department booked it for freshers week because it gets people competing straight away. Built for branded events

We wrap the unit in-house. A printed bottom board carrying your logo costs £95, and we keep it in the warehouse afterwards to reuse on future bookings at no extra charge. You'll need around 11ft x 7ft of floor space with 6ft of headroom; the table itself measures 8.5ft x 4.2ft and stands 2.6ft tall. It plugs into a standard 13A socket, and if there's no mains nearby we bring generators. It plays indoors on hard floors or outdoors on grass and hard standing alike.

Everything comes from our 25,000 sq ft warehouse between Sheffield and Rotherham, five minutes from the A1, M1 and M18. Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop and Chesterfield are routine runs, Leeds and Greater Manchester sit just down the road, and we deliver nationwide for larger bookings, London and Birmingham included.
