Outdoor event games are exactly what they sound like: the reaction games and arcade units we've supplied to exhibition halls for over twenty years, set up in the open air at fun days, school events and corporate parties. A Batak Pro wall, a Vault, a human table football pitch - they all run one player at a time by design, which makes spacing straightforward, and our own crew delivers, sets up and collects everything. Here's how the day works.
Why the open air helps
The games in our Exhibition Game Hire range are built for a queue that moves. The Batak Pro Reaction Game times each run - twelve lit targets, hit as many as you can, around thirty seconds a player - so people step up, play and step back, and nobody lingers at the machine. The The Vault runs the same way, a thirty-second dash to stop a light in the right zone. Because each turn is short and self-contained, it's easy to keep players spaced while they wait, and the whole thing sits outdoors where the air is moving.
Hands off the buttons where we can
When this post first went up in June 2020, we adapted The Vault so it could be played with a foot button instead of the hand trigger - same game, same scoring, no hands on the shared controls. That adaptation is still part of how we think about these games: if your event needs players to touch as little as possible, tell us when you book and we'll set the game up the way that works for you. What we won't claim is that the games are contactless by magic - it's shared equipment, and if you want wipes or a cleaning routine between turns, that's your call to run on the day. We'd rather be straight about that than promise something we don't control.
Space and power on the day
Most of these games have a footprint of a couple of square metres plus room for a small queue, so a school yard, a car park or a marquee field takes them easily. They run off a standard mains supply, and if the site hasn't got one we bring power with us - generator or a battery unit, whatever suits the spot. On grass we put safety fencing and extra mats out as standard, and the games work on hard standing too, so a concreted event ground is no problem. If you're not sure how much space you've got, measure it and ring us - we can tell you in a couple of minutes whether it fits and what else would go alongside.
Which games work outside
The full electronic range travels well - electronic interactive games like Strike a Light and the Atari Pong table are compact enough for a marquee corner, while bigger units such as the human table football pitch need a cleared grass or hard-standing area and we'll talk you through the dimensions when you book. High winds stop inflatables, and the same common sense applies here: if the weather turns on the morning of your event, we tell you at the earliest opportunity and refund in full, which is the promise on our delivery page.
Set up by our own crew
Everything comes off our own vans, delivered, set up and collected by the same crew - there's no subcontractor anywhere in the chain. The warehouse sits between Sheffield and Rotherham, a few minutes off the M1, M18 and A1 junctions, so most sites round here are a short run. You get the risk assessments and method statements as PDFs before the event, every hire is insured to £5m, and trained event attendants are available if you want the game run hands-free for the day. We cover Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop and Chesterfield as routine runs, and nationwide for larger bookings.
Book a game for your date
If you want an outdoor game that keeps a crowd moving without a big footprint, add one from the extras list when you're getting a quote anyway, or ring 0114 345 0135 if you'd rather talk it through - either way the office comes back with a price for your date and venue.
