01 April 2021 - Inflatable Bookings – Bouncy Castles, Garden Slides and Activity Games

Booking an inflatable with us runs in three parts: a quote from the website or the phone, a confirmation that locks in the date and the access details, and a delivery day where our own crew drops the kit off, sets it up and comes back to collect it. This post walks through each part, because most of the questions we field on the phone are about what happens between pressing the green button and the castle going up on the grass.

Getting the quote

Every product page carries a green Book Online button, and that is where the quote starts. The form asks you to pick a date first, and the calendar checks availability before anything else, so there is no point filling in your address for a Saturday that is already taken. From there the form takes your postcode and you choose your delivery area from the selector - the delivery cost is worked out from that choice, so the figure at the end includes the travel instead of surprising you later. The delivery page explains how the areas are priced. Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop and Chesterfield are our home patch, and we deliver nationwide for larger bookings, but if your postcode sits outside the areas listed on the site it is still worth asking. We get out to places the map does not show more often than people expect.

One honest limit to know up front: bookings for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays carry a minimum delivery spend of £1,250 plus VAT, so a single mid-size bouncy castle on a Saturday is usually better discussed on the phone than pushed through the form. Weekday bookings have no such floor, which is why school fairs and midweek birthday parties work out cheaper for the same kit.

What the booking confirms

Once you accept a quote, the confirmation pulls together the details that matter on the day: the delivery window you have agreed, how the kit gets into your garden or venue, and where the power comes from. Almost every inflatable we hire runs off a standard 13-amp mains socket, and most items want that socket within about 25 metres, which covers most gardens but catches people out in village halls and sports clubs now and then. We ask about access at the quoting stage - gate widths, steps, whether the lawn can be reached with a sack truck - because finding out on the day is the one thing nobody wants.

Two more rules worth knowing before you book. Outdoor inflatables only go out between 1st April and 30th September, when the ground and the weather are on our side. And we do not install castles or slides on hard surfaces unless drilling is permitted, so a patio booking needs a conversation before it needs a van.

Choosing the kit

The bouncy castles are the easy end: a bouncy castle for the garden needs less floor space than people assume, and the product pages list the safe working area for each one. The big activity kit needs a proper look at the garden first. Last One Standing, the sweeper game from the Total Wipeout school of television, needs a 35ft x 35ft space with 15ft of headroom, and it only goes on grass outdoors. The Mega Garden Slide stands 17ft tall and takes six users at the lower heights, so it earns its 20ft x 15ft footprint at school fairs and big garden parties alike. If you have the room for more than one item, our bouncy slide and castle combinations put two pieces of kit on one delivery and one invoice. For indoor venues, the helter skelter and the assault courses in the assault course range tend to be the ones that fill a sports hall properly.

On the day

Our own drivers deliver, inflate, anchor and safety-check everything, and they brief you on the do's and don'ts before they leave - max users, age limits, what to do if the wind picks up. The kit arrives clean, the £5m public liability policy covers every booking, and the collection happens at the time on the confirmation, often the following morning for garden hires. If something is not right, the phone number on the paperwork reaches the office, and the drivers are usually back the same day. Susan Hill, who books us for events regularly, put it better than we would: the team "set up the equipment, explain how it all works and will pick up after the event as arranged."

That is the whole journey. If you would rather talk it through than fill in a form, call 0114 345 0135 during office hours and we will price up the date, the kit and the delivery together.
