The new school year is a week out, so we've been looking back at the rewards days we ran in Worksop at the end of last term - the end-of-year treats schools put on for attendance, effort and behaviour, and the two biggest kit days we did all summer.
On 21 July we took a full setup to Outwood Academy Portland in Netherton, booked for every school year: the 100ft Mega Assault Course in its army theme, the Football Darts Combi - a giant dartboard you kick footballs at, with a penalty shootout alongside it - and the Basketball Inflatable, all on one field.
The next day we were at Sparken Hill School with the 75ft red and black Mega Assault Course, a 15x18ft bouncy castle and one of our mega slides. Two Worksop schools in two days, right at the end of term when the weather was doing its best and the field had been baked dry for weeks.
Both days ran the format that tends to work for school rewards days: one big assault course that eats a queue, plus two or three faster attractions alongside it so a whole year group stays busy at once. Class by class through, with the course as the headline and the quicker games keeping the rest of them moving. The 100ft is a proper run - climb, tunnels, obstacles and the slide out the end - so a class gets a good stretch of time on it, while the football darts and the basketball run short turns that keep the side queue chattering. It's the same shape a corporate fun day takes, just with smaller people and more screaming.
On the practical side: every inflatable goes out PIPA tested annually, anchored and matted by our own crew, and we can supply supervisors for the kit as well, so teachers get to watch the day instead of marshalling it. If you're not sure whether your playing field takes a 100ft course, ring the office and we'll check the measurements with you before you commit to anything - same for power, access and where the lorries park. Worth doing early, because by June the last two weeks of term are already filling up.
