28 July 2016 - Last one standing / Total wipeout

The Last One Standing is our Total Wipeout-style eliminator game: up to eight players stand on the numbered pads of a 9.4 metre inflatable bed while a padded double arm sweeps round, and your job is to jump it, duck it or go down. The arm speeds up every rotation, so the longer you last the harder it gets, until one player is left standing. Hire starts from £595 + VAT, and the unit goes out across Yorkshire and nationwide for bigger events.

How the game works

If you remember the Sweeper from the Total Wipeout TV show, this is the same idea in inflatable form. Players take their places on the pads, the arm comes round, and everyone gets caught out eventually - it is a low jump or a duck, and the timing gets tighter each pass. Children and adults can both play from age 5 up, and it works as well with eight individuals going head to head as it does with two teams of eight. The whole arena is enclosed with mesh viewing windows, so the crowd can follow every round, which matters at a busy fete where the game is doing half the entertaining.

We bought a second unit back in 2016 because the first one barely came off the road, and both are still out at carnivals, school fetes, corporate fun days, scouting events and birthday parties across South Yorkshire. Councils book it for community galas, and it has been on the running order for corporate summer socials too.

Space, surfaces and power

The inflatable bed measures 9.4m x 9.4m, about 31ft x 31ft, and stands 12ft high. You need a flat area of roughly 35ft x 35ft with 15ft of headroom and a 4ft access width to get it in. Outdoors it is grass only - it is not rated for concrete, hard standing, mixed surfaces or wood chip, so a school playground job needs a different plan. If your event is on hard standing, the Last One Standing with Walls Wipeout is the version rated for it, so tell us what surface you have got and we will send the right unit.

The sweeper runs off a normal mains supply for the blower. If the site has no power, we hire out petrol blowers and diesel generators through our generator and safety equipment range, so a field in the middle of nowhere is still workable. Safety fencing on grass and extra mats come as standard.

What is included and what it costs

Hire starts from £595 + VAT, and a minimum spend can apply depending on your location - we confirm that when you enquire. Our own crew delivers, sets up and breaks the unit down, and every booking is covered for public liability to £5m. Risk assessments and method statements land in your inbox before the day, which is usually the first thing a council or corporate H&S team asks for. The inflatable is PIPA tested annually, and every item carries its own serial number and service history in the log.

We have been supplying event games and attractions from Rotherham since 1999, and with the M1, A1 and M18 all a short run from the yard, the unit can be in Doncaster one day and Manchester the next. This game specifically holds 5 out of 5 on Google, part of 209+ reviews in all: “We had the Total Wipeout and the Assault Course for our daughter’s birthday. The kids loved it (and the big kids) and Kane was brilliant with them,” Selina told us after a birthday hire. After a corporate summer social, Louisa said, “The guys set everything up really quick and brought my vision to life. Very professional and a lot of fun.”

Building it into a bigger day

One eliminator holds a queue of eight, so bigger crowds usually want a second attraction alongside it. The Ultimate Wipeout makes a natural pairing for full It’s A Knockout style galas, or an assault course keeps the throughput up between rounds. For a fun day we often add a Gladiator Duel or a Rodeo Bull, and the side games fill the gaps when the queue needs spreading out. If you are running a corporate team building day, we can staff the game with a trained attendant so your own people stay hands-free.

Not sure whether your surface or space will take it? Measure the flat area and give us the numbers - if the standard unit will not work we will say so and quote the walls version instead. The office number is 0114 345 0135, or use the green Get A Quote button on the Last One Standing page and we will ring you straight back with availability and a delivered price. Most South Yorkshire dates sit on our regular runs - Sheffield to Worksop, give or take - with nationwide coverage for bigger bookings; the delivery page has the full map.
