National Fun at Work Day falls on Friday 30th January, and if ever a date in the calendar earned its keep, it's this one. The middle of January is a long stretch - the decorations are down, the mornings are dark, and everyone's settling in for the run to spring. A decent excuse to break the routine and put something in front of the team that isn't a spreadsheet.
We won't pretend a games afternoon transforms a company. But we've been a repeat supplier to corporate clients including Amazon, taking games and team-building kit to their sites across the UK, and the reason those bookings repeat is straightforward: people enjoy the day, and they talk to each other afterwards.

Batak Pro
The Batak Pro reaction wall is the one people keep coming back to. Two players face the board and hit the targets the moment they light up, and the faster your reactions the higher your score. Rounds are over in seconds, which makes it perfect for a running leaderboard through the afternoon - the scoreboard does the team-bonding for you as departments defend their honour.
Strike A Light
Strike A Light is a two-player race to hit the illuminated buttons, with speed and accuracy both counting towards the score. It's compact enough to sit in a corner of the office, and because a round takes seconds people go straight back for another go - there's always someone convinced they can beat the score on the screen.
Arcade Basketball
Our Arcade Basketball Machine is a timed hoops shootout with electronic scoring and difficulty levels, so the sporty and the hopeless can compete on the same unit. It gathers a crowd of spectators too, which on a fun day is half the point.
If the budget's smaller
You don't have to hire anything to make the day work. An office olympics built from paper aeroplanes, desk basketball and a reaction-game app on the TV costs next to nothing. Fancy dress on the video calls, a scavenger hunt round the building, pets making an appearance on the morning call - all of it lands so long as someone owns the organising of it. The hire kit works best layered on top of that sort of thing rather than instead of it.
