Booking a professional sound engineer to run the desk at your event or production can make all the difference to how it sounds on the night. Our engineers handle every aspect of the audio, from setup and configuration through to the live mix, whether that's a full live band at a wedding or festival, a conference with a dozen lapel mics, or a corporate presentation where speech clarity is everything.
Like most things in live sound, mixing is something you only really learn through years of doing it. Our engineers have that experience, and they come with DB's own front-of-house PA, digital console, wireless mic systems, monitors and cabling already in the van, kit we own and maintain ourselves rather than sub-hiring in. If something drops mid-show, a microphone cut-out, a feedback loop, a DJ signal that's running too hot, they sort it in seconds, which leaves you free to get on with hosting, performing or speaking while the technical side runs itself.
This Sound Engineer listing sits inside our wider PA and Music Section, and the from price assumes you're also hiring the front-of-house PA from us, so the engineer and the rig go out together as a pair. Pair them with the PA System Medium EV ELX Range for private parties and smaller corporate events, step up to the PA System Large EV ELX Range for live bands and bigger crowds, or go all the way to our Line Array PA Hire for festival-scale events where coverage and clarity matter. Add a DJ Booth or DJ With PA Equipment 4K rig to fold a DJ into the same setup, or team the engineer with our Mobile Trailer Stage Hire 7x6m and the Party Marquee Hire package for a full outdoor gig in one booking.
We've been running live audio for over 25 years from our 25,000 sq ft Rotherham warehouse, five minutes off the A1, M1 and M18, with £5 million public liability cover and around 95% of our kit owned and maintained in-house. Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop and Chesterfield are all on our patch, and we cover larger PA and engineer bookings nationwide, with regular runs to Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, London and the NEC.
Hit the green button to add a sound engineer to your quote and we'll come back to you the same day with the right rig for your room.
What's included
- A professional live sound engineer for the duration of your event, including soundcheck
- Operation of the front-of-house mixing console, monitor sends and wireless mic systems
- Setup, soundcheck and pack-down at the end of the night
- Use of DB's own digital console, wireless mic receivers, DI boxes, stands and cabling, paired with the FOH PA you hire from us
Pricing
From £295, subject to VAT at 20%. The from price is based on hiring the front-of-house PA system from DB at the same time, so the engineer and the rig are booked together. Tell us the date, venue and roughly what's on stage and we'll spec the right engineer-and-rig combination for the room.
Power, surface and access
The engineer setup works indoors on hard flooring or artificial grass and outdoors on grass, concrete, wood chip or a mixed surface. You'll need a standard mains supply in reach of the desk position. If the venue only offers a generator feed, talk to us and we can pair the rig with our temporary power. Allow roughly an hour for load-in, setup and soundcheck before doors.
Areas covered
Daily deliveries across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Worksop and Chesterfield. Larger PA and engineer bookings go nationwide, with regular runs to Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, London and the NEC. There may be a minimum spend depending on your event location.
