Calver Village Hall (formally Calver, Curbar and Froggatt Village Hall) is a purpose-built community hall on Main Street in Calver, in the Derbyshire Peak District on the A623 between Bakewell and Chesterfield, about 12 miles south-west of Sheffield. It serves the three villages and is used for weddings, birthday parties, christenings and community events. The main hall seats around 100 for a sit-down meal or up to 150 buffet-style, with a stage with lighting and curtains, dressing rooms, HD projection and surround sound.
There's a meeting room for 14, a professional kitchen and licensed bar directly off the main hall, free Wi-Fi, disabled access and parking on site. A tip for anyone driving in: some satnavs try to route you down Brookfields, but the entrance drive is on Main Street.
For children's parties, the main hall takes our bouncy castles and disco domes well, and everything runs off the hall's normal plug sockets. Younger children get the toddler soft play zone and themed soft play sets, while older kids go for Whack a Mole, a dance machine and the prize crane. When the whole under-12s crowd is coming, the Ultimate Indoor Package pairs a bouncy castle with a slide and an enclosed toddler zone, and it's the setup we'd suggest for a busy village hall party.
Weddings and adult celebrations work well too. The hall can be hired exclusively at weekends and has its own licensed bar. We bring the photo booths, the magic selfie mirror or the 360 photo booth, and the kitchen end makes a good spot for fun food like a candy floss machine or popcorn cart, keeping the main hall clear for the entertainment.
