Scout camps and youth organisation events run on grass fields, woodland clearings and showgrounds, and that's the terrain DB Entertainment's event hire kit was built for. We supply assault courses, laser quest, climbing walls and fundraising stalls with delivery, crew and power from Rotherham, working with groups across Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and nationwide, with assault courses from £1,495 plus VAT for a staffed 120ft course.
Kit that suits a camp site
The Mega Assault Course (120ft) was designed around It's a Knockout events and divides into three sections built from six separate obstacles - bish and bash run, hurdles, scramble net, mega slide and two water obstacles - so it can be configured to the space you have. It comes with two members of DB staff as standard. The Laser Quest Hire arena is a 12m x 12m inflatable maze that goes pitch black inside with fog effects, and it runs on almost any level surface with a power supply, from £599 plus VAT. For younger sections, the Hook A Duck side stall and the smaller inflatables tend to get as much use as the headline kit.
Camps we've worked on
The big ones are where this shows. When Packmania brought nearly 3,000 cubs to Hesley Wood in South Yorkshire for the centenary of cub scouting, we placed close to every bit of our event hire kit up in the woods for the weekend. At the Mega Moot camp for Scouts and Guides in Nottinghamshire, around 4,000 people were on site, and one of the organisers told us afterwards: “From initial enquiry to staff on the event they could not have been more helpful and professional. We would not hesitate to use them again.” Closer to home, 259th Stephen Hill Scouts booked four pieces for their 70th anniversary celebration at Whitley Woods and kept 80 young people - Scouts, Cubs and Brownies - busy for four solid hours on a bouncy castle, a colour maze and an assault course.
Fundraising stalls you can run yourself
Not everything needs our crew. The DIY Hook A Duck is a traditional fairground pond you run yourselves: ten ducks with metal rings, rods and the table, with a small pump keeping the ducks drifting. It's £295 plus VAT with an overnight option at £25 extra, and it's the version we hire out for charity events and school fayres. We can supply toy prizes at £1.75 plus VAT each, and a £3 charge per go is roughly where most groups settle, so a busy stall pays for the hire over a weekend camp. Full details on running it are on the product page.
The practical bits for group leaders
Woodland and field sites have their own requirements, and it's better to know them before booking. Most of the big inflatables need vehicle access to within reasonable pegging distance and a power supply; for remote fields we hire Generator and Safety Equipment alongside the activities. Insurance sits at £5m public liability with indemnity to principal while DB staff are on site, and the risk assessments go out before the event - the paperwork district commissioners and camp permit holders usually ask to see. Multi-day camp rates are available, and our own vans and crew do the delivering - the delivery page covers how that works. The Scouts Event Hire and Assault Courses pages list the wider range.
