We own one of the largest selections of inflatables and interactive attractions in the country - more than 600 items across 68 categories, all kept at our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham - so we get asked for a shortlist a lot. The ten that go out most often for fun days, weddings, school events and corporate parties are the assault courses, the rodeo bull, bungee trampolines, a disco dome, the helter skelter, Laser Quest, the prize crane and the Batak Pro, each listed below with the space, power and price facts that decide whether it fits your event.
1. The 100ft Mega Assault Course with Base Jump
The biggest of our assault courses in regular use: 100ft of tunnels, biff-and-bash pillars and hurdles finished with a base jump tower you leap off into the landing zone. It needs a safe working area of 12ft wide by 100ft long by 16ft high and runs off two standard 13 amp sockets, so it fits far more venues than people expect. Children and adults both race it, which is why it works at corporate fun days and school leavers parties alike.
2. The 100ft Assault Course in red and black
Our 100ft red and black course takes up to 18 racers on it at once and finishes with a slide off an 8ft platform. Mesh netting runs the length of both sides, so whoever is supervising can see the whole field of play at a glance. It's one of eight assault courses we own outright.
3. The Bootcamp 220ft U-turn course
The largest mobile assault course we carry, the Bootcamp. The 220ft is the full obstacle route, and because it turns back on itself the setup area is about 100ft by 41ft rather than a 220ft straight run. We built this one on grass at Doncaster Racecourse for a corporate fun day, so we know exactly what it needs on the day: room, vehicle access and a bit of patience from the marshal at the gate.
4. The rodeo bull
The rodeo bull is the mechanical attraction that pulls a crowd all on its own. A typical 3-hour hire gets through 40 to 60 riders, with a large digital timer on the front so the whole room can see who's lasted longest. We can run a leaderboard across the event and hand out certificates for the top riders, and our operator dials the difficulty per rider - a nervous first-timer gets a gentle warm-up rather than a bronco ride.
5. Bungee trampolines
Four bungee trampolines on one central mast, all running at once with one jumper per bed. Each jumper wears a padded harness clipped to bungee cords, and the operator winches the cords up as they bounce, so confident jumpers get air time for somersaults they'd never manage on a garden trampoline. The rig needs a clear patch of 45ft by 45ft with 40ft of headroom, and from £895+VAT for a typical 4-hour hire the operating staff and safety barriers are included.
6. A disco dome
A disco dome is a fully enclosed inflatable with a bounce floor, a Bluetooth PA and an LED light show under one roof, and ours are built so the door can stay open while in use - a detail that matters a great deal to the adults standing outside it. You plug your own playlist in by Bluetooth, headphone jack or USB, so the music is yours rather than a DJ's.
7. The giant helter skelter
Our giant helter skelter stands 22ft tall with a 15ft slide platform and a 27.6ft by 22.1ft footprint. It takes up to four riders at a time at staggered heights, so the queue keeps moving at busy events. We own two of them - this round one and a square version - which matters when an event runs on two sites at once.
8. Laser Quest
The mobile Laser Quest arena is a 12m by 12m inflatable maze of tunnels and bunkers with infrared phasers - no projectiles, just the 90s game everyone remembers. It runs at almost any venue from £599 plus VAT; what it needs from you is the space, a suitable surface and a bit of power.
9. The prize crane
An arcade claw machine you fill with your own prizes - branded merchandise, plush toys, vouchers. The win rate is adjustable from "prize every time" upwards and the panels can be branded to match the event, and when the prizes are worth winning it keeps a queue for most of the day.
10. The Batak Pro
Twelve light-up targets, two LED score displays, and people queuing to beat their own high score - the Batak Pro. We've supplied them to the NEC Birmingham, Leeds First Direct Arena and Old Trafford, so it's as much an exhibition-stand fixture as a fun-day one.
What they all have in common - and where they don't fit
Every item here is owned by us and set up by our own trained crews, with five million pounds of public liability cover behind it, and the risk assessment is in your inbox before the day rather than on it. The limits are the usual ones: the big courses need lorry access to the site and a fair patch of level ground, the bungee rig wants 40ft of headroom, and indoor venues need to check ceiling heights and door widths with us before booking - a 100ft course does not go into a sports hall that's 90ft long. Where there's no mains power, we hire generators, so it's rarely a dealbreaker, but it's one more thing to price in.
Booking any of them
Sheffield, Barnsley and Chesterfield are local runs for us, and we deliver nationwide for bigger bookings. If two or more of these have made your shortlist, ring the office on 0114 345 0135 and ask them to price the lot as one multi-item deal, or work the shortlist up through a quote.
