A fun fayre stall costs from £295 for the day, comes with a member of our own team to run it, and prizes are included as standard. That’s the short answer for anyone organising a school fayre, a charity fundraiser or a village fair, and there’s a bit more worth knowing below - including the self-run option that works out cheapest of all.
The stalls in the kit
We keep the classic side stalls in road-case form, so they set up fast and travel well. The Hook A Duck is a dry stall - the ducks sit on a printed game board, no water trough - set up under a red and white striped gazebo with one of our team running it from set-up to take-down. Standard prizes are sweets and lollipops; swag or bigger prizes can be added at extra cost, and there’s a Christmas theme with Santa and reindeer ducks if the date is right. The Tin Can Alley Fun Fair Game has a pyramid of eight numbered tins on a striped backboard: three balls, all off the board to win, and no power needed, so it works on a hall floor, on grass or on a stage.
Alongside them sit the Ball-in-the-Bucket Fun Fair Game (three buckets, the ball has to stay in), Ring Toss, Fish Bowl Challenge and the Coconut Shy. Lined up in a row under gazebos they look the part on a school field in Sheffield or a parish gala in Worksop, and children and adults can all have a go.
Running it yourself
If volunteers are running the stalls, the DIY Hook A Duck is the version built for that. Ten yellow ducks with metal rings drift round a moulded trough on a small water pump, rods supplied, and you run the stall yourselves. It’s 4ft tall on a 6ft x 4ft footprint, with 10ft x 6ft of clear space and 6ft of headroom needed for the rods, and it works indoors on hard flooring as well as outside. Overnight hire is +£25 if the fayre runs into a second day.
The money side
We can supply good-quality toy prizes at £1.75 + VAT each, and a £3 charge per go is roughly what most fayres settle on. Ten goes at £3 brings in £30, so the prizes for those ten players cost about £21 + VAT, and everything after that is fundraising. Those are the numbers to put in front of the PTA or the charity committee; if your price per go differs, the maths scales the same way. Prizes for the attended stalls are included in the hire price, so you only buy in extra stock if you want bigger swag on the shelf.
Space, access and the limits
The attended Hook A Duck stall measures 15ft x 15ft and stands 15ft tall, so allow an 18ft x 18ft footprint with 15ft of headroom - worth measuring the school hall before you book, because the tallest stalls won’t fit under some ceilings. The attended stalls need one of our team on each one, which is part of the £295; the DIY version needs your volunteers. Everything is non-inflatable and needs no power, so no generator is required for a row of stalls. Every hire carries £5m of public liability cover, and we’ll email the risk assessment to your school or charity before the event, which is usually what the H&S lead asks for first.
