Four adult-size space hoppers, delivered on the same van as everything else. No blower, no power, no setup: take them out of the bag and the racing starts. Hopper races work at almost any event - children's parties, school sports days, office parties, hen dos - and losing a hopper race is funnier than winning one, which is rare in competitive sport.
They get used in all sorts of ways. We've sent them out for a company fun day in Doncaster alongside giant Connect 4, Jenga and a penalty shootout, and for a hen party "bridal Olympics" with an assault course and tug of war. Add our whiteboards and the large digital timer and you have a proper race meeting: team names on the boards, heats on the clock, and a scoreboard at the end. They also earn their keep as a side stall at school fairs and charity fundraisers, where a few quid a race adds up over an afternoon.
When you want the full version, the Space Hoppers Grand National is a 40ft inflatable race track with lanes, hurdles and horse covers, and it takes the same idea a lot further. For quieter races for small children, see our Didicars.
From £20 for the set of four, delivered and collected by our own drivers. Delivered orders carry a £50 minimum spend, so the hoppers usually join another hire. They are an add-on rather than a standalone booking, so there is no quote button on this page - add them from the extras list when you get a quote on any other item, or get in touch and we'll put the booking together for you.
Practical Details
- Price: from £20 for a set of four space hoppers. Overnight hire is available for an extra £25.
- The kit: four adult-size space hoppers. Nothing to inflate on site and no power needed.
- Riders: adults and children. Races are fairest when heats are matched roughly by size.
- Surfaces: suitable indoors on artificial grass or hard floors, and outdoors on grass. Not suitable for outdoor concrete, hard standing, mixed surfaces or wood chip.
- Space: a clear run of a few metres per lane, with something soft at the end of it.
- Staff: hire is unstaffed as standard, and we can add a supervisor to run races and keep score.
- Extras that pair well: the whiteboard for team names and the large digital timer for heats.
- Minimum spend: delivered orders carry a £50 minimum spend plus delivery cost, so the hoppers usually join another hire. Collection from our Rotherham warehouse is possible instead, subject to a deposit and photo ID.
