The Ultimate High Striker is the modern take on the fairground test-your-strength classic, also known as a Carnival Strength Game, Carnival High Striker or Test Your Strength meter. It's built on the Andamiro King of Hammer II arcade unit: grab the hammer, hit the pad as hard as you can, and the LEDs race up the 3.4-metre tower. The digital display keeps the current score, the last score and the best of the day, so you can run a highest-score competition across the whole event.
Difficulty is adjustable. Set it hard for adults trying to out-do each other, ease it off so younger players get a fair crack at it. Rounds are quick and everyone gets the idea straight away, which keeps the queue moving and a crowd gathered round the machine. It's the real arcade version, not a plastic novelty - an oversized foam-headed hammer on a tether and a tower of 30 LED segments.
Where it works
Carnival and fairground themes are its natural home. Put it alongside Maze Runner, Flap Attack, Whip n Skip, Roller Bowler, King of the Hill and Strike Zone, or scale up with fun fair rides like the Dodgems and Waltzer, plus the Giant Helter Skelter.
At 3.4m tall it needs a room with standard ceiling height, so it's worth checking with your venue before booking indoors. The footprint is a tidy 1.0m × 1.0m, which is why it sits happily in function rooms and exhibition halls alongside Virtual Bowling, Virtual Pinball and The Vault. It works on every surface too - grass, hard standing, concrete or wood chip - so unlike the mechanical High Striker, a tarmac car park or a wood-chip play area doesn't rule it out.
