The 20 kVA diesel generator is the mid-size set in our silenced fleet, and the one we reach for when an event has no mains to plug into. It's a Stephill SSDK20M: 19 kVA prime, about 15 kW of usable power, driven by a genuine Kubota engine. In practice that covers marquee lighting and heating, a band or DJ, catering kit and chiller fridges, or a serious inflatable - it's the set we spec for the Bootcamp 220ft Mega Assault Course, which needs a full 20 kVA to itself.
Quiet on site
The close-fitting acoustic canopy keeps it to 64 dBA at 7 metres, which is conversation territory rather than a building site. The 120-litre bunded tank runs 26 hours at three-quarter load, 43 at half and up to 86 on a quarter load, so most weekend events never see a fuel can.
Outdoor power, sorted properly
This is an outdoor set, happy on grass or hard standing and never indoors. For silent, fume-free power inside a hall, that's the Instagrid 2.1 kWh Battery Generator's job instead. We deliver on a trailer, site the set, fuel it and run it up before your event starts, and every generator goes out with safety fencing and fire extinguishers. It's all carried in-house at our 25,000 sq ft Rotherham warehouse, five minutes from the M1, and we've been hiring out event kit from South Yorkshire since 1999.
Two things to know before you book. Hire this set as your only item and we'll need to see your hired-in plant insurance; book it alongside other kit from us and that doesn't apply. And if your event runs long, extending the hire is rarely a problem.

- ELCB fitted to the 400V and 230V outputs; auto voltage regulation to +/- 1.5%
- 230V hard-wire facility and 2-wire remote start connection as standard
Fuel, delivery and pricing
- From £295 plus VAT. Delivery and collection charged at £1 per mile
- Every generator is provided with a full tank of fuel. Diesel is additional, which we can supply: extra fuel hours are £20, £30 or £40 for two, three or four hours, and the Bunded Diesel Towable Tank keeps long-running sets fed
- Spread the power around with a 32 AMP Power Distribution Unit, and warm the tent with gazebo heaters
- Delivered on a trailer, then prepared, positioned and checked by our team. Extensions of hire are no problem if the event runs to extra days
- Hire or buy, for emergencies, outdoor sites and hard-to-reach places. Same-day, next-day or rapid-response delivery depending on the job, with discounts for longer-term hire
