The 30 kVA diesel generator is the big unit in our generator range. It's a road-tow, three-phase genset with a Perkins diesel engine, sized for running a whole site off one machine: fairground rides, large assault courses, staging with full PA, catering, gazebo heaters and festoon lighting.
It's a quiet one for its size, rated 64 dBA, and the 120 litre bunded long-range fuel tank runs up to 22 hours at 75% load, so a full event day goes by without anyone nipping out for fuel. It runs on diesel, and the supply is organised by us and included in the price of the hire - every generator leaves us with a full tank, and we can supply extra fuel for longer hires.
Where does it go? Outdoor field events mostly - funfairs, rodeo days, school galas, weddings in fields around Sheffield, Doncaster and Chesterfield, plus building sites and emergency back-up wherever the mains won't reach. It's outdoor kit: it sits on grass or hard standing rather than indoors, and it turns up on its own road-tow trailer, so no lifting gear needed on your site.
Our own team delivers it, positions it, runs the checks and starts it up, then comes back to collect it when you're done. It's kit we own and maintain in-house, backed by £5 million public liability insurance, with risk assessments sent ahead of the event. One bit of small print: hired on its own, this generator needs hirers' plant insurance; booked as part of a bigger DB order, it doesn't.
We always book the activities to be staffed and powered, which leaves us to concentrate on other aspects on the day, said Pinx Salon, who have used DB for their annual charity fun day since 2013.

Sizing and extras
As a rule of thumb, 30 kVA is around 43 amps per phase on the 400V three-phase side. If that's more than the event needs, the 20 kVA and 10 kVA generators step down from here, and the Instagrid battery unit covers jobs where fumes or noise are out. To spread the power around site, add power distribution units, lighting towers and safety fencing - all hireable from the same warehouse near Rotherham, five minutes off the M1, with nationwide delivery across the UK.
