Silverwood Miners Welfare Resource Centre is a community venue in Dalton, on Doncaster Road between Rotherham and Mexborough. Originally built for Silverwood Colliery workers and opened in 1959, the club was refurbished with a £650,000 Coalfields Regeneration Trust grant and holds up to 230 seated. Locals still know it as the Baggin.
The main function room, the Silverwood Suite, has a stage with two changing rooms, its own bar, and patio doors leading to an outdoor terrace. The Fred Green Lounge is a smaller, quieter space with comfortable seating, a snooker table, and a projector screen. Outside, the venue sits on over four hectares of grounds with two football pitches, a bowling green, and open fields at the rear. There is a free car park with around 60 spaces including disabled bays.
The Silverwood Suite comfortably fits our bouncy castles, disco domes, and soft play sets for children's parties. For older children, add a Whack a Mole or prize crane. The outdoor grounds open up larger options in summer, including assault courses and side games.
For weddings, milestone birthdays, and evening functions, we supply photo booths, magic selfie mirrors, arcade games, and fun food machines. The venue's own bar and kitchen mean less to organise on the night.
We have delivered to Silverwood several times and are based about 15 minutes away in Rotherham. Every hire includes delivery, setup, and collection, with £5 million public liability insurance as standard. We own 95% of our equipment, so there is no sub-hiring or third-party coordination.
